Bio
Ricardo Garza is a highly experienced and dedicated soccer coach, possessing a USSF Coaching License and United Soccer Coaches Badges. With 20 years of coaching experience, including 5 years at STLCC, Ricardo has a proven track record of developing successful soccer programs.
Coaching Philosophy:
Ricardo is a developmental mindset coach with extensive experience at the JUCO level. He believes that players are not fully developed until they have spent 18 months in his program. His approach focuses on finding coachable and deliverable players to achieve high-level execution of tactical and technical demands at the elite college level. Ricardo emphasizes a student-athlete mindset, prioritizing both academic and athletic development.
His philosophy includes:
- Controlling the ball on the pitch and pressing opponents to gain control of the game.
- High demands on soccer fitness and increasing soccer IQ throughout the season.
- Leading the nation in the strength of schedule and learning from mistakes.
- Focusing on intensity and effort rather than just results.
- Building a family around recruiting classes and mentoring young athletes into mature adults.
