Archers Eliminated After Tough Loss

The Archers have been eliminated from the NJCAA DII Softball World Series with a tough loss to #3 Murray State. Coach Swiderski spoke about the team's performance this week,"We have absolutely nothing to hang our heads about. Our team played with the best in the country and showed others that we deserved our spot at the World Series."

Today's elimination game between St. Louis Community and Murray State College showcased some explosive offense with both teams fighting to the bitter end with Murray State nudging out the Archers 10-9. The game was filled with back-and-forth action, with both teams putting up strong offensive performances.

St. Louis Community College got off to a quick start, scoring two runs in the first inning. Murray State College quickly responded with a home run by H. Igou in the bottom of the inning. The game continued to see-saw, with both teams trading runs throughout the game.

Notable performances by the Archers included Natalee Watts , who had a strong showing with three hits and two RBIs. Morgan Jones  also had a standout game, with four hits and two RBIs. 

When asked about the pitching performance throughout the week, Coach Joe Swiderski said, "I'm extremely proud of our young pitching staff and their performance throughout the week. Our pitchers compliment each other well. We followed our game plan by changing pitchers as soon as anyone got into trouble. This allowed us to changes things up quickly and keeping hitters off balance." 

Overall, it was an exciting and closely contested elimination game between two talented teams. The fans in attending the NJCAA DII Softball World Series at Tyger River Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C. were treated to a competitive and entertaining matchup that came down to the wire.
