STLCC Volleyball Defeats Jefferson At Home

The STLCC volleyball team came away with a gutty win over Jefferson College on Wednesday, October 2.  After dropping set one by a score of 25-20, the Archers stormed back to take set two and three. (25-22, 25-25)  In the fourth set, Jefferson answered the STLCC surge, by dominating the set 25-8.  The fifth and deciding set came down to the wire, with the Archers pulling away and taking the match with a 15-12 win.

In the victory, Trisha Gaylord led all players with 17 kills.  Lauren Partney and Emma Leppien tied for the team lead with 18 assists.  Partney also led the Archers with 24 digs.  Lauren Holsclaw, Breyanna Howard, and Trisha Gaylord also helped the cause on defensive with a solo block each.

With Wednesday's win, STLCC improved to 17-5 overall and 2-2 in MCCAC play.  The team will return to action on Friday, October 4 at the Vincennes University Tournament.  On Friday, STLCC will take on Gadsden State CC at 2:00pm, followed by Snead State at 4:00pm.  The Archers will wrap up the tournament on Saturday by taking on Kankakee CC at 1:00pm and Vincennes University at 3:00pm.
