Archers Take 3/4 At John A Logan Tournament

The STLCC volleyball team recently participated in the John A Logan Tournament on Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, winning three out of the four matches they played in.  On Friday, the Archers were able to defeat Rend Lake College in straight sets after taking down Frontier CC 3-1.  STLCC faced a tough test against John A Logan College to start the day on Saturday.  The Archers battled throughout, but fell to the Volunteers in the fifth set.  In their last match of the weekend, STLCC bounced back in a big way by defeating Wabash Valley College 3-1. 

Leading the Archers in kills during the tournament was Trisha Gaylord with 44.  Kyla Sidener also chipped in with 43 of her own.  STLCC also got a strong effort offensively from Emma Leppien (88 assists) and Lauren Partney (70 assists).  Defensively, Lillian Howell led the way with 39 digs.  Kyla Sidener added to the defense with six solo blocks, while Breyanna Howard recorded five solo blocks.

With three more wins during the tournament, STLCC improved to 11-5 overall.  The team will return to action on Tuesday, September 24 at home against Frontier CC at 6:00pm.
