Volleyball Team Defeats Frontier and Lewis and Clark, Improves To 3-0

The STLCC volleyball team looked to build off their 1-0 start to the season when they hosted Lewis and Clark CC on Monday, August 26.  After a tough 32-34 loss in the first set, the Archers rallied to win the match 3-1 with scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-20 in sets two through four.  In the match, Trisha Gaylord led the Archers in kills with eight.  Emma Leppien and Lauren Partney each tallied 12 assists and Haley Vlassos came up with 28 digs.

STLCC quickly returned to action following Monday's win, traveling to Fairfield, IL for a match against Frontier CC.  In Wednesday's match, the Archers would again have to rally after losing the first set by a score of 24-26.  They team did just that, winning by scores of 26-24, 25-18 and 25-22 to take the match 3-1.  Kyla Sidener led the way offensively with 17 kills for STLCC.  Lauren Partney collected 29 assists in the match.  Haley Vlassos found a way to collect 28 digs, while denying the Frontier attack with nine solo blocks.  

With the two wins this week, STLCC is now 3-0 to begin the season.  The Archers will be back in action on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 for a tournament at Lincoln Land CC.  On Friday, STLCC will take on Lincoln Land CC and Lake Land College, before wrapping up the tournament on Saturday against Kankakee CC and Spoon River CC.
