STLCC Splits on Opening Night at the Falcon Classic

The St. Louis Community College volleyball team opened the 2017 season by splitting on the opening day of competition at the ECC Falcon Classic. The Archers topped SWIC 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-22) in their first match of the season and fell to Lewis & Clark 3-0 in the second match of the day. Sophomore Sarah Stretch, started her STLCC volleyball career tallying seven kills and returning middle, Maura Rabun, added another five to the tally. The Archers started their first match of the season converting on 64% of their offensive chances.

The Archers finished they day 1-1 after a tough three set match against Lewis & Clark (22-25, 22-25, 27-29).  Rabun contributed 8 kills against Lewis & Clark, supported by by freshman Libero, Allie Ayotte, who dug seventy percent of all balls coming her way.  "The entire team played well showed a ton of grit," Stated coach Geoff Davis, "I'm excited for our opportunity to continue to develop together as a unit."

The Archers return to action on Saturday with an 11:00 am start vs. John A. Logan College and a 1:00 pm match with the Lindenwood-Belleville University JV team.
