STLCC drops home match in straights sets to Lewis and Clark

Chris Arbini entered this year knowing that his focus in Year One was going to have to include the long view, as his young volleyball program gradually builds itself up against a challenging schedule.

In the second meeting on the young season between STLCC and Lewis and Clark, Arbini looked on the Archers fell 13-25, 11-25, 13-25 to the Trailblazers. The loss was an outlier among the other six matches, as the Archers struggled to build momentum and suffered their second straight loss at the hands of Lewis and Clark.

“I think you have to have the long view,” Arbini said. “Obviously, players want to win right away, but you have games like this where you aren’t able to do the things you’d like, and you have to be able to go back in the gym and go look at the film and improve.”

The loss dropped the Archers to 1-5 overall, including 0-2 in home matches. STLCC will have five days off before hosting Jefferson College in the team’s first regional matchup of the season.

“We’re going to continue to improve,” Arbini said. “We’ll go back to the gym tomorrow and correct the things we weren’t able to do today, and hopefully get us where we want to be as we move through the season.”
