Women's Soccer Defeats State Fair, Advances To Region XVI Championship Match

The STLCC women's soccer team defeated #4 State Fair on Wednesday, October 23 to advance to the Region XVI Tournament Final.  In Wednesday's semifinal match, the Archers scored early and often, leading to a decisive 5-1 victory.  Sydney Adamec scored at 23:00, 25:00, and 30:00 in the first half to give STLCC an early 3-0 lead.  Just before the first half ended, Salma Omer made the score 4-0 at 42:00.  In the second half, State Fair scored at 49:00 to make the score 4-1, but STLCC answered with a goal from Taylor Thompson at 52:00 to give the Archers a four goal cushion and they would hold on for a 5-1 win.  Isabella Lundberg collected four assists in the match, with Malorey Krutzsch and Sydney Adamec also tallying assists.  Kelly Cates made one save in net for the Archers.

With the semifinal win against State Fair, STLCC advances to the Region XVI Final on Sunday, October 27.  On Sunday, the Archers will host #3 Metropolitan Community College at 2:00pm.  The win over State Fair also ensures that STLCC will advance to the Central District Tournament, which will be played on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8.  The winner of Sunday's match will host the Central District Tournament.
