The STLCC women's soccer team played host to nationally ranked Southwestern Illinois College on Monday, October 14. The SWIC Blue Storm got off to a quick start, scoring at 11:00 and 15:00 to take a 2-0 lead into the half. STLCC again got off to a slow start in the second half, with SWIC scoring goals at 47:00 and 55:00 to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Brea Griffonetti answered back at 58:00 on a setup from Isabella Lundberg to cut into the SWIC lead, but the Blue Storm answered back at 89:00 and defeated STLCC by a final score of 5-1. Kelly Cates made 14 saves in net for the Archers.
With the loss to SWIC, STLCC moves to 9-4 overall. The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 17 against Region XVI and MCCAC opponent St. Charles CC. Thursday's home match is set to begin at 4:00pm.
