The STLCC women's soccer team came away with a come from behind victory against South Suburban College on Sunday, September 1. After the Bulldogs took a quick 1-0 lead at 12:00, the Archers defense stiffened up and goaltender Kelly Cates made multiple big saves, including a stop on a PK.
In the second half, Madison Gann tied the score at 1-1 on a setup from Kelton Hewett at 49:00. The match remained tied until Mikayla Sisk scored to put the Archers ahead at 61:00, with the assist going to Isabella Lundberg. Sisk's go ahead goal was all STLCC would need as they hung on for a 2-1 win. Kelly Cates made six saves in net for the Archers in the contest.
With the win, STLCC improves to 2-1 on the season. The Archers will be back in action on Thursday, September 5, when they travel to Kansas City to take on Metropolitan CC to open Region XVI play at 6:30pm.
