Lady Archers Fall in Overtime to Allen County

The Lady Archers soccer program opened the 2017 season against Allen County on Friday afternoon on the Florissant Valley campus, falling in overtime 2-1. St. Louis Community College scored the first goal of the match in the third minute, as Grace vanHoornbeek hammered home a cross from Alexa Griffonetti to give the Archers the lead.  The first half was dominated by the Archers and it stayed that way until the eighty-sixth minute when Allen County struck for the tying goal and the two teams headed to overtime.  In overtime, the Archers missed high in the second minute for the only shot in overtime, until Allen County snuck a ball into the net, after it bounced straight down from the cross bar and got nudged over the goal line to give the Red Devils the 2-1 victory.

STLCC, who dropped to 0-1 on the season, outshot Allen County 21-10 on the afternoon and return to action against Heartland Community College at 5:00 pm on Monday afternoon in Bloomington, IL.
