Sophomore Day Sparks 9-0 Victory Heading into Region 16 Tournament

The St. Louis Community College women' soccer team looked like a preview for the new Fast and the Furious movie as they scored six first half goals enroute to a 9-0 victory over Illinois Central College on Saturday afternoon, improving to 10-6-0 on the year.  In the seventh minute, Haylie Woodard opened the scoring up for the Archers as she found the back of the net off the first or two assists on the day from Grace vanHoornbeek.  During the fourteenth minute, Sam Amezcua scored on the second vanHoornbeek assist of the day.  The Archers next two goals were  unassisted as Rebecca Bass drove a ball home in the twenty-sixth minute and Michelle Kean followed that up a minute and forty seconds later to give STLCC a 4-0 lead.  Kaitlin Robertson scored in the thirty-fourth minute when she connected on a pass from Alexa Griffonetti pushing the lead to 5-0 and Ellie Wallace wrapped up the first half scoring int he thirty-eighth minute of an assist from Jessica Nast.  

After halftime, the Archers scored nine minutes into the half as vanHoornbeek scored, while Amezcua picked up the assist and seven minutes later Griffonetti added her team leading twelfth goal of the season to make it 8-0 Archers.  Michalla Rohrer finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the seventy-seventh minute, giving the Archers the 9-0 win.  

Libby Modde picked up her seventh clean sheet of the season in the win.  The Lady Archers will now move on to Region 16 tournament play with a 2:00 pm match at St. Charles Community College against MCC-Blue River.
