Team Effort Leads Archers in Season Opener

The St. Louis Community College Women's Soccer team came out of the gate firing during the 2016 season opener.  The Archers tallied twenty four shots on goal against State Fair Community College on Thursday afternoon, on the Meramec campus, while notching a 3-0 victory.  

Kate Wing got the Archers on the board at the 29:22 mark of the first half by beating the Roadrunner goalie on a perfect assist from Hope Beckerle.  Becca Bass gave the Archers some breathing room on an unassisted goal twenty four minutes into the second half and Ellie Wallace put the game on ice twelve minutes later with a goal with help from an assist from Ashley Winkler.  

Amanda Hughes collected teh shutout in goal for the Archers, saving four shots in the effort.  Head Coach Jason Howard collected his first career win as a collegiate head coach stated "we started slow, but after the Kate Wing's goal our energy level picked up and we played hard on the defensive end."

The Archers are off until September 4th, when the travel to Indian Hills Community College.
