The Lady Archer soccer program showed playoff caliber defense on Monday afternoon opening up Region XVI tournament play on the Meramec campus, while coming away with a 1-0 victory over State Fair Community College. The Archers did not allow a single Roadrunner shot on goal in the first half, and controlled the action on their half of the field and kept the pressure on State Fair.
Just over two minutes into the second half, the Archers struck on a direct kick from Libby Stubbs from the top of the box, Stubbs was assisted by Jessica Nast on the play. Amanda Hughes collected her fifth shutout of the season for the Archers who improve to 6-7-3 on the year. STLCC now travels to Independence, MO for the semi-finals of the Region XVI tournament and face off against MCC Blue River at 2:30 pm on Friday October 28th.
