Archers Fall To North Arkansas College In District Championship

The STLCC women's basketball team fell to North Arkansas College in the Plains District Championship on Saturday, March 8.  After winning the Region XVI Championship a week prior, STLCC traveled to Harrison, AR with a chance to advance to the NJCAA National DII Women's Basketball Tournament.  In the first half of Saturday's game, STLCC kept the score close and only trailed by two points at the half.  In the second half, the Archers found themselves trailing again by two points with under a minute to play.  STLCC was unable to score on the game's final possession and fell to North Arkansas by a final of 65-63.

The Archers were led in scoring by Kierra Winkeler, who tallied 25 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double.  Also scoring in double figures for STLCC were Ronne'zja Elliott (17 points) and Janet Garrett (14 points).  Sophomore Kyla Richardson led the team in steals with four.

STLCC finished the 2019-2020 season at 14-14 overall and as Region XVI Champions.
