Archers Defeat MCC On Sophomore Day

The STLCC women's basketball team came away with a big Region XVI win over Metropolitan CC on Saturday, February 15.  The Archers never trailed against the visiting Wolves from MCC and took a 42-31 lead into halftime.  MCC was able to make a push in the third quarter, cutting the STLCC lead to six points, but STLCC pulled away in the fourth quarter and came away with a 71-59 win. 

Kierra Winkeler led the Archers in scoring with 20 points and also pulled down nine rebounds.  Also scoring in double figures for STLCC were sophomores Ronne'zja Elliott (17 points), Janet Garrett (16 points), and Kyla Richardson (14 points).  Elliott also led the Archers in assists with six.

With the win over MCC on Sophomore Day, STLCC moved to 9-13 overall and 2-1 in Region XVI play.  The Archers returned to action on Monday, February 17 and defeated Lindenwood-Belleville University JV by a score of 75-67, improving their record to 10-13.  STLCC will be back in action on Tuesday, February 18 at Missouri Baptist University.  Tuesday's tip is set for 3:00pm.
