Women's Basketball Opens Region Play With Win

The #12 STLCC women's basketball team got off to a 1-0 start in Region XVI play with an 89-72 win against Metroplitan CC on Saturday, Janurary 26.  The Archers held a one point lead after one quarter, before finding their rythm and outscoring the Wolves 31-17 in quarter number two.  STLCC was able to use a 15 point halftime lead to secure their 14th win of the season. 

The Archers got multiple contributions offensively on Saturday, including double-digit scoring from Maia Marshall (29 points), Kyleigh Vaught (13 points), Janet Garrett (13 points), Kimyra McGhee (11 points), and Caprice Hairston (10 points).  Ronne'zja Elliott, Vaught, and McGhee all tied for the team lead in rebouding with seven.

With Saturday's win, STLCC moves to 14-5 overall, 1-0 in Region XVI play, and are currently 3-3 in MCCAC play.  The team will be back in action on Tuesday, January 29, when they host Greenville University JV at 6:00pm.  Tuesday's game against Greenville will be played at STLCC's Meramec campus.
