The St. Louis Community College Lady Archers basketball team overcame a sluggish first half to run away with 80-56 victory over Cottey College at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. The Archers will play the winner of the North Central Missouri/MCC-Penn Valley contest, the championship game will be played on Saturday at 1:00 pm in Jefferson City.
The Archers led 16-15 after one quarter of play, thanks in part to a 6-0 run after Cottey scored on their first possession and extended the lead to 28-25 at the half, once again using a 6-0 run to close out the half. STLCC outscored the Comets 28-19 in the 3rd quarter thanks in part to two different 8-0 runs. The Lady Archers used the 4th quarter to distance themselves from Cottey and close out the game, as they went on a 14-0 run to start the quarter and essentially end the upset hopes of the Comets.
Shamiah Oliver led all scorers with 19 points, while Ellisha Davis added 16 points and 4 steals. Alfreda Roberts and Chrishana Wilson both scored 10 points, while Wilson added another double-double to her outstanding freshman season with 14 rebounds.
STLCC improves to 21-8 on the season.
