Glover’s 30 points not enough in loss to Lincoln Land

For the fourth time this year, the Archers received a superlative individual scoring effort, but were unable to make it stand up, in a 79-70 loss to Lincoln Land Community College on Wednesday.

In losses to Vincennes University, Lindenwood-Belleville and Rend Lake, the Archers received 27 or more points by a single player, but came up short. Wednesday’s outcome was no different, as the Archers (1-4) fell despite a 30-point performance from freshman Shamara Glover.

Glover was dominant all evening, connecting on 11 of her 17 attempts from the field, including a 4-for-6 performance from three-point range. The Archers also received a stellar showing from forward LaShonda Brewer, who came off the bench to record her best game as an Archer, scoring 12 points and finishing a perfect 6-for-6 from the field.

But a third quarter that saw STLCC outscored 22-8, and a game that featured a season-most 24 turnovers overshadowed the Archers’ offensive output. Lincoln Land also presented a dominant performance on the boards, out-rebounding STLCC 50-36, and had five players reach double-figures in scoring.

The Archers will return to action Friday, when they travel to Arkansas State Mid-South for the Lady Greyhound Classic. They will take on Arkansas State Mid-South on Friday, before facing off against North Arkansas College at the same location Saturday afternoon.
