Archers to face North Arkansas in District P playoff on Saturday

After a thrilling, 72-71 win over Penn Valley to secure the third Region XVI championship in the past five years, St. Louis Community College’s women’s basketball team will have a week to prepare for North Arkansas College, who the Archers will host for in the District P playoff on Saturday, March 5.

The two teams last squared off in the postseason in 2013, when the Archers defeated North Arkansas 63-55 to earn a second consecutive NJCAA tournament bid. North Arkansas (23-5) enters the District playoff game as winners of its past six games, and is ranked 12th nationally in final regular season NJCAA poll.

The Archers (17-13) will enter the playoff game on a similar hot streak, having won 13 of 16 games since January 9. During that run, STLCC has been guided largely its trio of starting guards. Shiana Carrington (20.9), Shamara Glover (13.1), and Shania Thornton (13.1) combine for more than half of the team’s average of 71 points per game.

Saturday’s playoff game will tip off at 2 pm.
