Softball Team Splits With Kankakee

The #13 STLCC softball team faced a very talented Kankakee CC team on Saturday, March 7.   The Archers dropped game one by a score of 3-2, before winning game two in walk-off fashion by a score of 8-7. 

 

G1

Game one against Kankakee was a pitchers duel, with STLCC coming up a little short.  Sidney Litviak went the distance in the circle for the Archers, taking the loss after allowing two earned runs and striking out six.  Collecting hits for STLCC were Breanna Potthast and Miranda Hudson.

G2

Game two was a back-and-forth contest, with the Archers coming away victorious in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the walk-off win.  Eileen McGinnis got the win for STLCC, pitching five and two thirds innings and allowing four runs.  McGinnis struck out eight Kankakee hitters in the win.  Offensively, the Archers got multi-hit performances from Breanna Potthast, Amanda Vehlewald, and Sidney LitviakTori Siebum and Vehlewald collected two RBI in the win.  Also driving in runs were Sophia White, Potthast, Litviak, and Miranda Hudson.

With the split against Kankakee, STLCC moves to 3-1 overall.  The Archers will return to action on Tuesday, March 10 at St. Charles CC.  Game one of the scheduled double-header is set to begin at 2:00pm.
