#13 Archers Get Sweep On Opening Day

Early season weather issues caused the #13 STLCC softball team's opening day to be pushed back until Tuesday, March 3, but the Archers were able to come away with a pair of wins against Southeastern Illinois College to begin the season at 2-0. 

Game 1

With the wind gusting straight in, STLCC used a three run fifth inning to come away with a 4-2 win.  Sidney Litviak went the distance in the circle for the Archers, allowing only two runs and striking out nine.  Collecting multiple hits for STLCC were Sidney Litviak (3), Breanna Potthast (2), and Sophia White (2).  Driving in a run each were Sidney Litviak, Maddison Coones, Tori Siebum, and Eileen McGinnisSophia White stole two bases and Emma Weirich swiped one. 

Game 2

In game two, the Archers stole six bases to run away with a 5-3 victory.  Sophia White, Maddison Coones, and Emma Weirich each finished with two stolen bases.  Collecting multiple hits were Maddison Coones (2), Breanna Potthast (2), and Cameron Foster (2).  Foster also led the team with two runs driven in.  Eileen McGinnis went the distance in the circle for STLCC, only allowing one earned run.

With the double-header sweep over Southeastern Illinois College, STLCC begins the season 2-0 overall.  The Archers will be back in action at home on Saturday, March 7 against Kankakee CC.  First pitch is set for 2:00pm.
