Archers Offense Travels Well in Sweep at State Fair

After a home sweep on Wednesday, which saw the Archers score twenty-two runs in eleven innings, the Archers offense stayed hot as they scored twenty-one runs in twelve innings, in a sweep of State Fair Community College, 10-1 and 11-2.  STLCC improves to 13-6 on the season and 7-1 in MCCAC play and returns to action on Sunday with a doubleheader at Cottey College.

Game 1

Sarah Shepard improved to 5-4 on the season, as she pitched six strong innings, allowing only an earned run to go along with nine strikeouts.  At the plate, the Archers banged out seventeen hits and eight extra base hits as they scored ten runs.  Kacy Bergfeld went a perfect 4-4 at the plate, including two doubles and three rbi.  Sadiya Collins banged out her third home run of the season to go along with three rbi, while Morgan Moss, Abby Lavely, Anna Counts and Jenn Luebbert each had two hits.

Game 2

Hannah Marquardt moved her record to 6-1 on the season, as she threw four innings and allowed only one earned run.  Kourtney Timper picked up her first save of the year as she threw two innings of scoreless ball.  Offensively, the Archers collected fourteen hits, six of which went for extra bases.  Moss was 3-3 at the plate, including her sixth home run of the year and two rbi, while Bergfeld added two more doubles and two rbi.  Molly Darner had three hits and two rbi at the plate, while Counts had two hits, including a triple, and three rbi.
