The St. Louis Community College softball team finally got Mother Nature to cooperate with their schedule, as they opened the season in Cocoa Beach, FL on Friday afternoon.  The Archers dropped the opening game, 6-1, to Parkland College, but rebounded in game two against Community College of Rhode Island, winning 12-0.

Game 1

The Archers hit the ball hard throughout the game, but unfortunately they hit right at the Parkland defenders.  Anna Counts had 3 hits during the game and scored the only STLCC run, while Sarah Goers added 2 hits as well.  Abby Lavely drove in the lone run for STLCC in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Sarah Shepard took the loss in the circle after throwing five and a third innings.

Game 2

Hannah Marquardt threw five scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits, and striking out 4 CC of Rhode Island hitters, while Chloe Johnson added 2 scoreless innings in relief during the 12-0 victory.  Molly Darner led the Archers at the plate by collecting 3 hits, including a double, while driving in and scoring a run.  Sadiya Collins added 2 hits and 2 RBI, including the first homerun of the year for STLCC, staking the Archers to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, Eva Rasey had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, Morgan Moss added a hit and 2 RBI in the victory and Kacy Bergfield added 2 RBI and a double.

The Archers are 1-1 on the young season and return to action on Saturday morning when they face Chesapeake Community College and CC of Rhode Island.
