With March weather bringing rain, the St. Louis Community College Softball team was more than excited to get back outside and on the field for a Friday MCCAC doubleheader with Jefferson College.  The Archers pitching staff allowed only 2 earned runs in fourteen innings, as they dropped the opening game, 1-0, but rallied for a 6-2 win in eight innings, during the nightcap.

Game 1

Sarah Shepard pitched her best game of the young season in the opener, allowing only one run, while striking out six hitters and not walking a Viking hitter.  Unfortunately the STLCC offense could not push across any runs as they only collected three hits in the loss.  Shepard saw her record fall to 2-4 on the year.

Game 2

After allowing two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Kacy Bergfeld belted a two run home run to leftfield to tie the game at 2-2 and force extra innings.  The Archers used small ball to push across four runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the split.  Anna Counts notched five hits, while scoring a run and driving one in as well, while Sadiya Collins had three hits and plated a run and Morgan Moss banged out two hits and scored a run in the win.  Hannah Marquardt improved to 4-1 on the year, as she pitched seven innings allowing only one earned run, and Sarah Shepard nailed the door shut in the bottom of the eighth inning to improve the Archers to 9-6 on the year and 3-1 in MCCAC play.
