The St. Louis Community College Softball team waited longer than expected for their home opener, but it was worth it on Thursday afternoon as they swept Mineral Area College, winning game one 8-6 and taking the nightcap 3-1.  The games were also the openers for Region 16 and MCCAC play, as the Archers improve to 8-5 on the year and 2-0 in both Region and Conference play.

Game 1

Morgan Moss provided the muscle for the Archers at the plate with a double and a two run blast to leftcenter, while scoring two runs and driving in a total of three runners during the victory.  Jenn Luebbert, Sadiya Collins, Abby Lavely and Kacy Bergfeld each collected two hits, while Bergfeld scored three runs and added a double and Lavely had two doubles.  Sarah Shepard picked up the victory in the circle for STLCC to improve to 3-3 on the year.

Game 2

The Archers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Moss and Lavely drove in runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Molly Darner picked up the third RBI for the Archers, as she singled in the bottom of the third inning to score Moss.  Hannah Marquardt improved to 3-1 on the year as she allowed six hits in seven innings while striking out two Cardinal hitters.
