Counts and Miller Lead Archers to Sunday Sweep vs. St. Charles

The St. Louis Community College softball team wrapped up a busy weekend in grand fashion Sunday afternoon with a sweep of MCCAC foe St. Charles Community College, winning the opener 6-5 and the nightcap 9-3.  The two wins push the Archers overall record to 20-4 and 4-2 in MCCAC play.

Game 1

Kyla Blankenship moved to 11-2 on the season as she picked up the complete game win.  Eva Rasey led the Archers with 2 hits in the opener, while Anna Counts scored 2 runs.  

After St. Charles scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Archers responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame as Sarah Goers had an rbi double, scoring Liz Miller, Shekinah Griffith followed with a sacrifice fly and STLCC scored two more runs as Counts reached on an error and advanced to third, and then scored a run of her own on a wild pitch to end the scoring in the fourth inning.

Game 2

Katy Moore moved to 9-1 on the season as she picked up another complete game win for the Lady Archers.  Miller went a perfect 4-4 at the plate, with a double and two triples, driving in 3 runs and scoring 2 of her own.  Griffith, Counts and Erica Waeltermann each had 2 hits, with Griffith adding 2 rbi and Counts scoring 2 runs.  

STLCC will play another MCCAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Poplar Bluff to take on Three Rivers College with first pitch slated for 2:00 pm.
