The St. Louis Community College softball team traveled over to Belleville, IL to play a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon and returned with a sweep to improve the Archers to 15-3 on the season.

Game 1

Kyla Blankenship moved to 8-1 on the season in the circle, by collecting her fourth shutout of the season, while striking out 6 Lynx hitters and allowing only 2 hits.  Anna Counts, Liz Miller and Sarah Goers each collected 2 hits in the opener.  The Archers got on the board in the first inning when Miller singled to leftfield scoring Madison Sundling.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, STLCC tacked on some insurance runs, when Haley Franklin singled to short, which allowed pinch runner Erica Waeltermann to score from third and Shekinah Griffith scored on a wild pitch, giving the Archers a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth inning, Goers supplied the power with her 2 run home run, her first of the season, scoring Miller to finish up the scoring in game 1.

Game 2

Katy Moore moved to 5-1 on the year, in picking up the win, throwing 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs and allowing only 5 hits.  Franklin, Goers and Sundling each collected 2 hits for STLCC, while Counts, Sundling and Blankenship each scored 2 runs.  Sundling and Goers each had rbi doubles for the Archers and once again, Goers connected in the 6th inning on a 2 run home run, adding important insurance runs.

Weather permitting, the Archers will return to action on Thursday afternoon with a MCCAC doubleheader on the Meramec campus vs. St. Charles Community College.  First pitch is slated for 2:00 pm.
