The St. Louis Community College softball team traveled to Union, Mo for a Region 16 and MCCAC doubleheader against East Central College and returned to St. Louis with a split, winning the opener 6-0 and falling in the nightcap 14-11.
Game 1
Kyla Blankenship moved to 6-1 on the year in the circle and at the same time picked up her third shutout of the season, as she threw 7 innings, allowed only 3 hits and punching out 11 East Central hitters. Madison Sundling, Blankenship, Sarah Goers and Haley Franklin each collected 2 hits a piece in the win. Goers had 3 rbi and Franklin added 2 doubles.
Game 2
The Archers found themselves down early, but did not stop fighting offensively. Anna Counts went a perfect 4-4 at the plate, scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 as well. Liz Miller had 3 hits while Goers and Sundling each had 2 hits a piece. Sundling had a double, added her 5th home run of the season while scoring 3 runs and picking up 5 rbi. Katy Moore picked up the loss, falling to 4-1 on the season.
The Archers are now 11-3 on the season and 4-2 in Region 16 play and host Lewis & Clark Community College on Wednesday afternoon for a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
