Archers Offense Heats Up in Sweep

On a cold Friday afternoon, the St. Louis Community College bats were hot as they led to a road sweep over the Central Methodist JV team, 25-1 in the opener and 9-0 in the nightcap.

Game 1

Kyla Blankenship once again proved to be a two way threat as she picked up 6 strikeouts in 5 innings pitched, while allowing 1 earned run and collected 4 hits at the plate including a double and 5 rbi. Sarah Goers added 4 hits and 5 rbi and Shekinah Griffith scored 4 runs and had 3 hits from the leadoff spot.  Madison Sundling scored 5 runs for the Archers in the opener.

Game 2

Katy Moore threw a 5 inning shutout to pick up the win during the nightcap for the Archers. Offensively the Archers were led by Goers once again, who gathered 3 hits and 3 rbi and added her 3rd home run of the season.  Liz Miller, Markie McDonald and Haley Franklin each added 2 hits, with Miller driving in 4 runs.

The Archers improve to 17-3 on the season and return to action with a 1:00 pm doubleheader against Region 16 foe Mineral Area College on the Meramec campus Saturday afternoon.
