Archers Sweep on Day 1 of Spring Trip

The Lady Archers softball team opened up play at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, SC on Saturday morning and came away with two wins, defeating Joliet Junior College 12-4 and Frederick Community College 11-6.  

Game 1

Freshman Kyla Blankenship was outstanding, both in the circle and at the plate, as she collected 10 strikeouts and gave up only 4 hits in 6 innings pitched to pick up the win, and went 3-4 at the plate, with 2 doubles and 7 rbi.  Shekinah Griffith had 2 hits, Eva Rasey scored 3 runs and Liz Miller went 1-2 with 2 runs scored in the victory.  

Game 2

Katy Moore got the victory in the 11-6 victory over Frederick Community College, as she went 4 innings, allowing only 4 hits and giving up 3 runs.  Madison Sundling went 3-4 in game 2, while Griffith, Mary Kate Raftery, Sarah Goers and Miller each added 2 hits a piece.  Griffith added a triple and 3 runs scored, while Miller touched them all with her first home run of the season.  

The Archers improve to 4-0 on the season and return to action on Sunday at 8:30 am vs. Pitt Community College followed by a 10:30 match up with Genesee Community College.
