The St. Louis Community College softball team completed a sweep of Mineral Area College in Farmington on Thursday afternoon, winning the opener 13-0 (in 5 innings) and taking the nightcap 7-4. With the wins, the Archers improve to 32-8 and 9-3 in Region 16 play, and secure the number 1 seed at the Region 16 tournament next weekend at Cottey College.
Game 1
Kyla Blankenship threw five innings, allowing only one Cardinal batter to reach base (a one out single in the fifth inning), while striking out 10 hitters not allowing a walk, she moves to 18-3 on the year. Shekinah Griffith, Madison Sundling and Sarah Goers each collected 2 hits on the afternoon, with Sundling adding a double and 5 rbi's. Griffith, Rasey and Fisher each scored 3 runs for the Archers.
Game 2
Kourtney Timper improved to 6-1 on the year as she tossed 4.1 innings in the nightcap. Blankenship had 2 hits in game 2 and picked up her second save of the year as she threw 2.2 innings and did not allow a run. Sundling contributed 2 rbi's and Anna Counts, Blankenship, Rasey and Fisher each added an rbi in the win.
