The St. Louis Community College softball team finished their four game set with Cottey College on Sunday afternoon with a split, winning the opener 9-1, but falling in the second game 5-0. The Lady Archers move to 10-2 on the year and return to action at 2:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon in Union, MO for a doubleheader vs. East Central College.
Game 1
The top of the lineup carried the offense for the Archers in the opener as numbers 1-4 in the batting order, Shekinah Griffith, Anna Counts, Madison Sundling and Kyla Blankenship, each collected 2 hits. Griffith scored 2 runs and swiped 2 bases, Counts added 2 rbi, Sundling scored 2 runs, drive in 2 runs while adding her fourth home run of the season, and Blankenship only allowed 2 hits in 6 innings to move to 5-1 on the season.
Game 2
The Archers put the ball in play, but could not break through against the Comets to put any runs up on the scoreboard as Blankenship and Liz Miller each collected 2 hits, while Sarah Goers added a double.
