Archer Reach 30 Win Plateau with Sweep

The St. Louis Community College softball reached the 30 win mark with a doubleheader sweep, 17-0 and 21-12, over the Central Methodist JV team Tuesday afternoon on the Meramec campus.

Game 1

Kyla Blankenship picked up her 17th win of the season by throwing 5 innings and striking out 10 Eagle hitters.  Blankenship allowed a leadoff single to start the game, but went to shutdown mode from that point forward.  Shekinah Griffith had 3 hits, including a double, scored and drove in 3 runs. Anna Counts, Liz Miller and Sarah Goers each added 2 hits, with Miller and Goers each driving in 3 runs and Counts collecting 2 rbi as well.  Madison Sundling belted her team leading 9th home run of the year in the bottom of the first inning to give the Archers their first of seventeen runs.  Sundling also scored 2 runs and had 2 rbi.  

Game 2

Haley Franklin and Sundling each contributed 3 hits, with Sundling adding 5 rbi and 2 stolen bases and Franklin adding a double and 3 rbi, while scoring 4 runs.  Markie McDonald, Griffith and Counts each added 2 hits with Counts driving in 3 runs and adding a triple and McDonald driving in 2 runs and scoring 3 runs in the win.  Kourtney Timper moved to 5-1 on the year.

The Archers travel Thursday afternoon to Mineral Area College for their last Region 16 doubleheader of the 2017 season, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 pm.
