In a resounding display of skill and determination, the Archers shut out the Cougars with a 1-0 victory to claim the Region 16 Championship. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their unwavering dedication and the culmination of a season filled with hard work and teamwork.

From the moment the match kicked off, it was evident that both teams were prepared to leave everything on the field. The Archers' defensive line held firm against the relentless attacks of the Cougars. Their discipline, coordination, and unwavering spirit in protecting their goal proved to be the backbone of their success. The Archers defense was lead by sophomore center mid-fielder Alexander Gatto. Gatto's skills and vision in the midfield were a sight to behold. He showcased an incredible ability to read the game, make precise passes, and maintain possession under pressure. His presence on the field brought a sense of calm and confidence to his team. This is why Alexander was selected as the Region 16 Player of the Year and All-Region First Team

As regulation time came to a close with the score level at 0-0, extra time beckoned, the Archers seized their moment. In a brilliant offensive play, they managed to break through the Cougars' defense, leading to a beautifully executed goal by sophomore forward Gabriel Carneiro

Matheus Pereira, the formidable goalkeeper, also played an instrumental role in shutting down the Cougars and ensuring a victory for his team. Coach Garza commented on Pereira's performance, "His performance between the goalposts was nothing short of exceptional, and it showcased his remarkable shot-stopping abilities and unwavering commitment to his team's success."

Congratulations to the Archers for their outstanding performance and for shutting out the Cougars to claim the Region 16 Championship.

The Archers will be back on the pitch at STLCC-Florissant Valley for the Central District Semi-Finals on Friday, November 3 at 11:00 AM when they will take on the Region 2 winner National Park College.
