Men's Soccer Wins Region Championship, Advances To District Play

The STLCC men's soccer team advanced past Crowder College on Saturday, November 2 to claim the Region XVI Championship for the fourth consecutive season.  After receiving the #4 seed for this year's regional tournament, STLCC had to defeat #5 St. Charles CC, #1 Jefferson College and finally #2 Crowder College to win the title.

Saturday's match against Crowder was tight defensively and remained scoreless after regulation.  Overtime #1 and #2 also saw no goals, so the match advanced to PKs.  During PKs, STLCC got goals from Reece Kral, Giacomo Sanvitale, Vitor Romero dos Santos, Dennys Vasquez, and Kieran CampbellLiam Gibbs made a big stop on Crowder's 3rd shot and STLCC advanced 5-4 on PKs.

Next up for the Archers will be a rematch from last year's Central District Championship against Illinois Central College on Saturday, November 9.  The Central District Championship will be played on the campus of Illinois Central College at 6:00pm.  The winner of Saturday's match will advance to the NJCAA Men's Soccer National Championship.  STLCC is currently 12-7-1 on the season.
