Vezzu netted a goal and an assist in the 5-0 victory

After a frustrating week on the offensive side (two 1-0 victories), Monday afternoon proved to be just what the doctor ordered heading into Regionals as the St. Louis Community College men's soccer team scored four first half goals enroute to a 5-0 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville.  The Archers got on the scoreboard in ninth minute when Noah Vezzu found the back of the net on a header, Connor Summerhill picked up the assist, and the Archers never looked back.  Eric Habonimana got the start for the Archers and did not disappoint as he scored the next two goals giving the Archers a 3-0 lead.  The first Habonimana goal saw Vezzu flip the ball over the the Lynx defender and Habonimana kicked it into another gear and blew by the defender and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper, Dyan Chapa assisted on the third goal of the match.  Mattias Tonking made the score 4-0, just two minutes later as he took a pass from Junior Yabwana and scored his ninth goal of the season, heading into halftime.

After the half, the Archers did a great job of controlling possession and finished the scoring in the eighty-second minute when Josh Graham blasted a shot from the top of the box making the score 5-0, Conor McArthur assisted on the goal.  Braedan Passalis and Scott Caraway combined on the clean sheet, the thirteenth of the season.  The Archers have now recorded five straight shutouts and have not given up a goal in 471:59 minutes of game action.  STLCC completes the regular season 18-0-0 and have run their regular season unbeaten streak to thirty-seven matches, a streak that dates back to the 2015 season.

STLCC starts their postseason run with the Region 16 tournament, with a 2:00 pm match on Saturday afternoon against MCC-Blue River on the Flo Valley campus.  Admission is free, lets pack the hill!
