Top Ranked Archers Roll in Region 16 Quarter-Finals

Saturday afternoon was a day to celebrate sophomore day on the Flo Valley campus, as the Archers rolled to an 8-0 victory over MCC-Blue River in the quarter-final match.  While the sophomores stole the attention before the match, freshman Noah Vezzu grabbed everyones attention once the referee blew the opening whistle as he collected four assists and goal in the win.  Just one week ago, MCC-Blue River held the Archers in check during the 1-0 STLCC victory, but fifty-four seconds into the match Chris Eduardo found a slashing Conor McArthur in front of the net for the 1-0 lead, his team leading seventeenth goal of the season, and it was over from there.  During the fifty-fourth minute, Connor Summerhill connected on the first Vezzu assist of the day to give STLCC the 2-0 lead.  Eduardo was on the receiving end of the second Vezzu assist in the thirty-seventh minute, notching his tenth goal of the season and giving the Archers some breathing room at 3-0 heading into the half.

After halftime, Dyan Chapa scored the first of his two goals in the match during the fifty-fifth minute, surprise Vezzu picked up his third assist of the match.  Thirty-four seconds later, Eduardo added an unassisted goal, his second of the day to make it 5-0 STLCC.  Mattias Tonking and Eric Habonimana decided to chip in and give Vezzu a chance at a goal of his own as the played the ball into the box giving Vezzu his sixth goal of the season.  One minute and five seconds later, Vezzu was back into the giving mood as he assisted Chapa on his second goal of the match.  In the sixty-fourth minute, Habonimana added an unassisted goal for the 8-0 lead and final score. 

The Archers played every healthy roster player during the match that saw Braedan Passalis and Scott Caraway combine on the fourteenth clean sheet of the season, which leads the NJCAA.

STLCC improves to 19-0-0 on the season and advances to play Crowder College on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm, on the Flo Valley campus in the Region 16 semi-final.
