In a rematch of the Central District championship match last Saturday, the St. Louis Community College men's soccer team opened the NJCAA national tournament with a 1-0 victory over Illinois Central College.  The Archers controlled the action for most of the match, but solid play from the Cougar goalkeeper kept the Archers off the board.  During the thirty-first minute, Mattias Tonking crossed a ball in front of the ICC net and Savino Livornese found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season, giving the Archers a 1-0 lead.

Braedan Passalis recorded four saves in the morning start for the Archers, who outshot the Cougars 7-4 on goal and 16-7 overall.  STLCC returns to action on Wednesday morning with a 10:30 am (central standard time) match against Pima Community College.
