STLCC Control Tempo in 3-1 Victory over Heartland

The twelfth ranked St. Louis Community College soccer team returned to the pitch on Sunday afternoon, welcoming Heartland Community College to the Flo Valley campus.  The Archers once again started out fast and controlled the tempo on the hot August afternoon, pulling out a 3-1 victory to improve to 3-0 on the year and run their unbeaten regular season streak to 22 matches, dating back to the 2015 season.

Conor McArthur continued his hot start to the season with a goal in the in the twelfth minute of the match on an assist from Connor Walters to open the scoring.  The Hawks answered with a penalty kick in the thirtieth minute of the match, off the foot of Matheus Giron, but the Archers did not panic and one minute and fifty-two seconds later, McArthur returned the favor and added his sixth goal of the year on a penalty kick to give the Archers a 2-1 lead.  Savino Livornese scored in four minutes later on a header from a Connor Summerhill throw in to push the Archers lead to 3-1.  

The Archers held Heartland to five shots, with only two of them being on goal, while the Archers fired off eighteen shots and eight of which were on target. STLCC returns to action on Thursday for a 4:00 pm match against SWIC on the Flo Valley campus.
