Du Toit Leads Archers To Gutsy Victory

Adam Du Toit continued his hot start to his sophomore campaign on Thursday afternoon to help lead St. Louis Community College to a 3-1 victory over Southwestern Illinois College on the Meramec campus.  

The Archers who came into the match averaging six goals per match, found themselves into a defesive struggle on Thursday and tied 0-0 at the half.  Du Toit gave the Archers the lead at the 56:00 minute mark of the match on an assist from Connor Summerhill and eight minutes later Du Toit hammered home a penalty kick to give the Archers some breathing room.  After a SWIC goal to tighten the match at 2-1, Casey Bartlett-Scott scored an unassisted insurance goal in the seventy-sixth minute to help lead the Archers to a 3-0-0 start of the 2016 season.  Du Toit now has four goals and five assists totalling 13 points through three matches to start the year.

Kallum Lunn contributes five saves in the victory.  St. Louis Community heads into a Region 16 road matchup on Saturday at 2:00 pm vs. Crowder College.
