Weeks Hat Trick Leads Archers to Region XVI Final

The seventh ranked St. Louis Community College Men's Soccer team started slowly, but finished with a flurry on Tuesday afternoon on the Meramec campus in a 4-1 victory over East Central College in Region XVI semi-final action to improve to 17-0-2 on the season.

The visiting Falcons scored in the second minute of play to take a 1-0 lead, but like the first match between the two schools on September 28th, the Archers responded quickly to tie the match when Harrison Weeks scored in the seventh minute on a header from a throw in from Connor Summerhill. The duo liked the first goal enough, to go ahead and connect once again in the fourty-second minute on another throw in from Summerhill that Weeks grazed off the top of his head just past the Falcon goalkeeper.  The Archers took a 2-1 lead into halftime and came out looking for some breathing room, but the first twenty minutes were spent playing defense as the Falcons controlled the action in the Archers end of the field.

In the sixty-fourth minute, the Falcons were called for a foul just outside of the box and Casey Bartlett-Scott connected on the free kick to notch his seventh goal of the season and give the Archers a 3-1 lead.  Twenty-three seconds later, Weeks was taken down in the box and connected on the ensuing penalty kick to put the Archers up 4-1 and helped the home sideline breath a little easier. Weeks collected his fifth, six and seventh goals of the year, while Summerhill collected his six and seventh assists on the season in leading the Archers to the Region XVI finals on Saturday October 29th at 2:00 pm on the Meramec campus vs. Crowder College.
