Four Archers named All-Region; Smith is All-American candidate

Concluding what was a banner year for St. Louis Community College’s men’s soccer team, the Archers had five players named to the All-Region XVI team. Dillon Smith, Adam DuToit, Pelius Britto, Jr. and Casey Bartlett-Scott were all honored, with Smith and Britto named to the region’s first team.

The quartet of Archers were part of the team’s import of six British players who helped to re-shape the Archers’ roster this fall. Smith, who set an Archers record with 24 goals this fall, was second overall in votes, making him a candidate for an NJCAA All-American nod. DuToit quietly posted a superlative offensive year of his own, scoring 19 goals and assisting on eight others.

In addition to being one of the team’s top defenders, Bartlett-Scott brought a uniquely offensive minded approach to the position, scoring six goals and adding 11 assists. Britto, one of the Archers’ top athletes at any position, was a steady influence both offensively and defensively from the midfield position. He was fifth on the team in total points with 22 (seven goals eight assists).

The four all-region players helped the Archers to a 16-win season, the best since moving to a district-wide program in 2011. Perhaps most encouraging for the Archers is that each of the four just completed his freshman year, giving STLCC an opportunity for the 2015 success to become a long-term arrangement.
