Archers Defeat National Park, Enter Region Tournament As #1 Seed

The STLCC men's basketball team recently defeated National Park College on Saturday, February 23 by a score of 93-61.  On a day in which STLCC sophomores were honored for their hard work and achievements, the Archers found a rythm offensively in the first half and took a 16 point lead into halftime.  STLCC continued to add to their lead in the second half, leading to a 32 point victory.  

The Archers were led offensivly by Dominique Loyd's 29 points.  Also scoring in double figures for STLCC were Sterling Wooten (19 points), Trequon Patterson (11 points), and Darius Riley (10 points).  DaMani Jarrett fell just short of a double-double in the contest, scoring nine points and pulling down 10 rebounds.  Sophomore Charles James also hauled in 10 rebounds and collected eight points.

STLCC improved to 14-13 overall with Saturday's win.  The Archers will be back in action when the team plays for the Region XVI Championship at 6:00pm on Saturday, March 2 in Jefferson City, MO.  STLCC will take on the winner of Thursday's semi-final matchup between Metropolitan CC and North Central Missouri College.  The Region XVI Tournament will be held from Thursday, February 28 - Sunday, March 3 at Lincoln University.
