Archers Control the Paint in Region 16 Victory

The St. Louis Community College men's basketball jumped out to a quick eighteen point advantage early in the first half enroute to a 94-82 victory over Region 16 foe MCC-Penn Valley on Saturday afternoon.  While the Archers jumped out to the large lead, the Scouts pulled to within two points at the half, 44-42, and actually took a six point lead midway through the second half, until the Archers pulled away late to close out the game. 

STLCC provided their most dominant night of the year on the glass in the victory, as they outrebounded Penn Valley 59-37, Sterling Wooten led the way with 19 rebounds to go along with his game high 31 points.  Dominique Loyd added 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Andre Pruitt contributed 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.  Cameron Lockett added 13 points off the bench, and Marquis Pepper had a team high with 5 assists and 5 steals.  The Archers held Penn Valley to 36.4% from the field.

STLCC returns to action for a MCCAC matchup on Wednesday night with a 7:30 pm tip against Mineral Area College on the Forest Park campus.
