The St. Louis Community College men’s basketball team jumped out early and often on the Lindenwood-Belleville JV team Friday night thanks in part to sophomores Andrew Smith and Raushaun Amos in enroute to a 98-50 victory.

Within the first five and a half minutes, Amos connected on three shots beyond the arc and Smith had 8 points, taken two charges and blocked a Lynx shot to ignite the STLCC offensive attack.  The Archers kept the pressure going the remainder of the half and found themselves up 55-19 at the intermission.  Joining the offensive attack in the first half was Marquis Pepper with 9 points, Sterling Wooten and Dominque Loyd with 8 points each.

In the second half, Wooten scored the first 6 points for the Archers after the break, while Smith continued to remain active around the basket and by diving for loose balls as he and Maurice Golden each scored 6 points in the second half as well to lead the Archers.  The Archers shot 51.2% from the field for the night and held the Lynx to 32.1% and outrebounded them 51-22, including 22 offensive rebounds.

The Archers improve to 10-10 and return to action on Monday night with a 7:00 pm tip on the Forest Park campus against the Missouri Valley University JV team.
