Saturday Sweep Day is the best way to describe Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City, as the St. Louis Community College men's basketball team took the court 30 minutes after the Lady Archers won their title and defeated MCC-Penn Valley 74-63, to earn a Region 16 title of their own.

The Archers never trailed in second half, as they displayed a suffocating defense and grabbed 6 more defensive rebounds than the Scouts.  Sean Rigmaiden had a second half that players dream of while growing up, as he led all scorers with 22 points and hit 13 of 17 free throws to close out the game. Courtney Barlow came off the bench to score 13 points and Todd Simms added 12 points of his own. Miles Nettles grabbed a team high 10 rebounds.

Penn Valley pulled to within 2 points at 61-59 with under four minutes to play, but with 3:47 left in the game, Brian Enriquez drilled a three pointer to give STLCC 64-59 lead and twenty three seconds later, Todd Simms picked up a steal and drove the length of the court and got fouled going to the basket.  Simms drained both free throws and the Archers quickly found themselves back up seven, at 66-59, and they never looked back.

STLCC improves to 20-12 on the season and travel on Saturday to the winner of the Arkansas St. Mid-South/North Arkansas Region 2 title game.  Game time is TBA.
