Defense Propels Archers into the Region 16 Championship Game

From the opening tip, the St. Louis Community College men's basketball team made a statement that they were going to play defense.  The Archers held North Central Missouri to 35.6% shooting for the night and 20% from behind the three point line and collected 10 steals in pulling away for a 64-50 victory in Jefferson City.  

The Archers used balanced scoring on the offensive side as Todd Simms connected on three important three pointers in the second half, while collecting a game high 14 points.  Miles Nettles added 11 points and 9 rebounds, while Sean Rigmaiden played an inspired second half and finished with 10 points, 8 rebounds (all defensive) and 4 assists.  Brian Enriquez scored 10 points and came up with 2 big second half steals to seal the win.  

The Archers hit 10-11 from the charity stripe in the second half to put the finishing touches on the game.  STLCC improves to 19-12 on the year and advances to the Region 16 championship game against MCC-Penn Valley on Saturday at 3:00 pm in Jefferson City.
