Archers Drop 2/3 At Nunez CC

The STLCC baseball team opened their 2020 season by traveling to Chalmette, LA on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8 to take on Nunez CC in a three game series.  The Archers took the first game of the series by a score of 8-6, before falling by a score of 5-2 in game two and 9-7 in game three.

 

Game 1

 In a game with numerous lead changes, STLCC was able to take the lead with three runs in the 6th inning and came away with a season opening win.  Sophomore Matt Blake collected the win on the mound, throwing two innings in relief and not allowing a run.  Jacob Fleming pitched a scoreless 7th inning and recorded his first save of the season.  Offensively, the Archers got two hits, including a home run and three RBI from Spencer KeiserMitchell Davis also homered for STLCC and Brendan Noack picked up two RBI.

In game two of the series, STLCC was unable to get the offense going and fell by a score of 5-2.  Blake Lawson was charged with the loss on the mound, lasting four innings and allowing two earned runs.  Dakoda Grove picked up an RBI on one hit for the Archers and Zach Krause homered in the loss.

 

Game 3

Nunez 9

STLCC fell by a score of 9-7 in the series finale against Nunez.  Blake McPhee took the loss on the mound after pitching two innings and allowing four earned runs.  Cesar Soto Lopez went 2-5 at the plate and drove in three runs for the Archers.  Spencer Keiser collected two hits and both Zach Krause and Garrison Hibbs went deep for STLCC in the loss.
