The St. Louis Community College Baseball team got a much needed sweep on Thursday afternoon at Three Rivers, getting the shutout in the opener, 2-0, and winning the nightcap, 12-8.  Two games and two different styles of victory for STLCC, as they got pitching and defense in game one and slugged the baseball in game two to get the sweep.

Game 1

Jack Kane picked up his third win of the season in the opener, but allowing only three hits in six innings of work and keeping the Raiders off the board, while Austin DesRoche struck out two hitters in the seventh inning to notch his sixth save of the season.  The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when with one out and runners on second and third, a wild pitch allowed McGwire Dean, who singled to start the inning, to score from third and gave the Archers a 1-0 lead.  Jackson Boschert then picked up his third hit of the game, a single to left, which allowed Will Sprick to score and also giving the Archers some breathing room at 2-0.

Game 2

Both teams brought out the bats for the nightcap, as they combined for twenty runs and twenty-six hits.  Six Archers collected multi-hit games with Boschert and Andrew Dupont leading the way with three hits each, while Boschert belted a home run to leftfield and a triple, and Dupont collecting two doubles and driving in two runs in the win.  Tony Rask, Jeff Huser, Clayton Stephens and Grant Bruggenjohann each had two hits, with Stephens adding three RBI, with a double and a home run, and Bruggenjohann adding an opposite field blast.  STLCC clubbed out seven extra base hits in the win.  Nick Wiley picked up the win on the mound to move to 3-2 on the year, while Jackson Schmedding earned his first save of the year.

The Archers move to 22-22 on the season and return to action on Saturday afternoon, when they host Three Rivers, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
